Turkish Parliament hit by blast, suicide bomber caught on camera

On a fateful Sunday in Ankara, Turkey, a shocking incident unfolded near the parliament building, sending shockwaves across the nation. Security camera footage capturing the precise moment when two terrorists carried out a bomb attack has surfaced on social media, painting a grim picture of the events that transpired. Thankfully, the attack resulted in no casualties, but it left two police personnel injured and a city in disbelief.
The CCTV footage, which has since gone viral on the micro-blogging platform X, offers a harrowing glimpse into the actions of two unidentified individuals. In the video, these individuals are seen parking what appears to be an SUV in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of the Interior. One of them, in a horrifying turn of events, detonates an explosive device as he rushes towards the building, causing a powerful explosion that engulfs the area in flames. The blast’s deafening sound was heard for several kilometers around the site of the attack.
The Turkish government swiftly issued a statement, classifying the incident as a ‘terrorist attack.’ According to their account, the attackers arrived at approximately 9:30 am in a commercial vehicle, positioning themselves strategically in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of the Interior. It was there that they carried out their devastating assault.
“One of the terrorists blew himself up, and the other was neutralized,” announced the ministry on social media, noting that two officers sustained “minor injuries” in the process. Notably, the district targeted by the attackers held immense political significance, being home not only to several key ministries but also serving as the base for the Turkish parliament.
