Jaishankar to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Kyrgyzstan

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Union Minister S. Jaishankar left on a two-day trip to Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday to attend the 22nd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG), which will be chaired by Kyrgyzstan. The vice president of Iran, the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, and the leaders of the governments of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will all be present at the conference, which takes place in the capital city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from October 25 to 26. The MEA statement stated, “The minister of external affairs will also meet with his counterparts from other SCO member states in Bishkek and call on the country’s top leadership.” The guest state Turkmenistan is joined by Belarus, Mongolia, and other SCO observer states.

The CHG is the second-highest forum in SCO. It focuses primarily on the areas of economy, finance, commerce, and socio-economic cooperation.
India held the SCO Leaders Summit this year on July 4 in a virtual format.
