Five Americans released from custody in a swap with Iran return to the US

According to CNN, five Americans who were released from Iranian custody as part of a larger agreement with Tehran have arrived in the country. They made a brief stop in Doha, Qatar, before returning to US soil early on Tuesday, the media outlet reported, citing two US officials. Notably, the US had designated all five Americans as having been “wrongfully detained,” and they were all released as part of a larger agreement that also saw the US unfreeze USD 6 billion in Iranian funds.

The five US citizens landed at Fort Belvoir’s Davison Army Airfield and received an emotional reunion with their families. They were seen greeting and hugging their family members after seeing their loved ones, after losing all hopes of returning to their homeland.
