Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for the release of ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, one of the most ambitious films of her career. The flick has created a buzz in the industry as it marks her second collaboration with Rajkummar Rao after the horror-comedy ‘Roohi’. ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ revolves around a failed cricketer who marries a doctor and then tries to help her master the sport. Cricket is an integral part of its narrative. Moreover, ‘Mahi’ is former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s nickname. Earlier today, May 21, Janhvi attended the film’s press conference in New Delhi and spoke about her admiration for the legendary wicketkeeper. She also opened up preparing for her role in ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’.

‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ Star Janhvi cals MS Dhoni “Everyone’s Favourite”

Janhvi Kapoor will be seen alongside Rajkummar Rao in ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, slated to open in theatres on May 31. The sports-drama explores the relationship between an unsuccessful cricketer and a doctor who excels in the sport. On Tuesday, May 21, the ‘Gunjan Saxena’ actress attended the film’s press conference in New Delhi and answered a few questions posed by the media. On being asked to name her favourite cricketer, she showered praise on MS Dhoni and said everybody likes him.

“MS Dhoni is my favourite cricketer and I don’t need to give reasons for the same. He is everyone’s favourite,” said the star.

Janhvi also spoke about preparing for her role in Mr and Mrs Mahi. The actress revealed that she trained for several hours a day to do justice to the physically-demanding cricket sequences. She further added that she tried to understand the character’s emotional graph to internalise her journey.

“I did cardio and also trained with KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders ) players. All in all, there was nearly six hours of physical training a day. Then I also had to get into the right frame of mind for the role. The idea was to commit to her lifestyle,”added the actress.

‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ is Janhvi Kapoor’s second release of the year. She made a ‘special appearance’ in the Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon-led ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, which hit screens earlier this year and emerged as a hit.
