In a rapid and coordinated effort, the Jammu Police successfully averted a potential crisis on Wednesday when a private school in the heart of the city received a bomb threat via a phone call. Authorities promptly responded to the situation, conducting an extensive sanitization operation within the school premises located on Residency Road.
Officials reported that the threat, initially perceived as imminent, turned out to be a hoax. No suspicious objects were discovered during the thorough search, and students remained undisturbed, continuing their classes without interruption.
“The Jammu Police acted swiftly on the bomb threat by an unidentified caller to a private school,” stated a police official. “Police conducted extensive searches and sanitized the area. The threat turned out to be a hoax, and an FIR has been registered.”
Upon receiving information about the threat, the school’s management promptly informed the concerned police station, triggering an immediate response from law enforcement. A police contingent, accompanied by a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad, entered the school complex to ensure the safety of students and staff.While speaking to The Daily Guardian, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kulveer Handa, said, Our specialized teams including Bomb Squad, and Dog Squad Police carried out searches. A comprehensive sanitization operation was carried out. Despite the initial tension, no evidence of a credible threat was found.
