Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, stated on Friday that the security situation in the union territory has witnessed improvement following the abrogation of Article 370. He declared that terrorism in the valley is on its deathbed. Sinha expressed regret over the unfortunate terror attack on an army convoy in Poonch district, resulting in the loss of five soldiers and injuring two.

In response to the attack, Sinha condemned the violence and attributed attempts to disrupt peace in the valley to ”our neighbor” (an apparent reference to Pakistan). Despite such efforts, he asserted that terrorism is declining in Kashmir, emphasizing the significant improvement in the security situation since the abrogation of Article 370.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of an event organized by the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, Sinha conveyed his condemnation of the violent incident and the persistent attempts by the neighboring country to destabilize the region. He reassured that these attempts would be futile, given the diminishing state of terrorism in Kashmir.

During interactions with members of the chamber, Sinha compared the security situation in Kashmir favorably to that in Bengal. However, he clarified later that his remarks were not intended for political interpretation, emphasizing that he meant to convey that the security situation in Kashmir is on par with Bengal, dispelling any misinterpretation.
