Bengal tiger pair to grace Jambu Zoo soon

A pair of Royal Bengal tigers, the national animal of India, will soon be roaring in the Jambu Zoo. The tigers, aged nine years, are being brought from the Aringar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as part of an animal exchange program.
The Royal Bengal tiger is one of the largest, fiercest, and most powerful members of the big cat family. Tigers are known for their distinctive striped pattern, which makes them easy to count during tiger censuses. There are around 3,167 tigers in India’s forests, which is more than 75% of the global tiger population.
The tiger pair will be housed in a naturalistic and enriched enclosure with a space of more than 4,500 square meters. The enclosure will have water ponds, machines, and heating and ventilation facilities for extreme weather conditions. The tigers will be kept in quarantine for a week before being released into the paddock for public display.
The Royal Bengal tigers will be an additional attraction for the Jambu Zoo and a great delight for the public, especially children, wildlife enthusiasts, and other visitors.
The tigers are expected to arrive at the Jambu Zoo today, November 16, 2023.
In addition to the Royal Bengal tigers, the Jambu Zoo also houses a variety of other animals, including elephants, lions, bears, and deer. The zoo is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day.
