In a significant operation, Baramulla Police, in collaboration with security forces, apprehended four terrorist associates affiliated with the banned terrorist organizations LeT/TRF. The joint operation also led to the discovery of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials in their possession.
A combined team of Baramulla Police, the Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, and CRPF’s 53 Battalion established a checkpoint at Naradhiri Dangerpora junction. At this location, they intercepted two suspicious individuals who, upon seeing the joint security team, attempted to escape. However, their attempts were thwarted, and they were tactfully apprehended. The two individuals have been identified as Gh Hassan Mir, the son of Gh Rasool Mir, a resident of Muran Tangwari Chandoosa, and Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, the son of Mohd Afzal Khan, a resident of Pinjwara Laridora Chandoosa. A thorough search of the suspects revealed a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, 12 live rounds, 2 hand grenades, and various other incriminating materials in their possession.
Subsequently, a case (FIR No. 68/2023) was registered at Police Station Sheeri, and an investigation was initiated. As the investigation progressed, two more individuals, Altaf Ahmad Rather, the son of Ab Ahad Rather from Kawhar, and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb, the son of Ab Gaffar Naqeeb from Kunzar, were summoned for questioning. During the interrogation, both individuals confessed to possessing hand grenades. In line with their disclosures, two hand grenades were recovered from them, and they were subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
Further investigations have revealed that all four accused individuals were previously associated with terrorist associate Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, the son of Ab Rashid Sheikh from Kunzer, who is currently detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The investigations continue to uncover additional details related to their activities and associations.
This operation underscores the continued efforts of the authorities in Baramulla to combat terrorism and apprehend individuals involved in supporting banned terrorist outfits.
