Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar on Sunday tore into Bhagwant Mann regime’s mind-boggling profligacies which he said have pushed the state on the brink of Financial calamity with the addition of Rs. 50,000 Crore more debt in just a year and a half since AAP came to power in March 2022.
In just the last 4 months from April till the end of July this year, AAP has already taken over 11,718 Crores as loan, Jakhar said in a Facebook Live underscoring his fear that if unchecked the present government would have crushed Punjab with another burdensome 1.75 crores of debt in just 5 years of AAP misrule against total debt of 2.82 cr in last 56 years of state’s existence.
Reading out the report of the office of Principal Accountant General, the veteran leader, with an incisive grasp of issues concerning Punjab, underscored that out of this 11718 Crores merely 900 crores have been spent constructively, and the rest has gone up in smoke at the whims and fancies of incumbent dispensation.
Citing this Himalayan splurging, Jakhar also urged all Punjabis to ask questions of this regime which “thrives on fake propaganda, advertisements, and personal aggrandisement”.
“I thank Governor Sahib for setting the proverbial cat amongst the pigeon by asking from Bhagwant Mann ji about the utilization details of about 50,000 crore which this present government has burdened Punjabis with”, Jakhar said.
Given the track record, I am not very hopeful of a genuine response by AAP leadership to very apt queries raised by Governor Punjab, Jakhar remarked adding thanks to the Governor’s missive, Punja‑bis of all hues have started asking – ‘where is the money, Mann Sahib’?
Exposing the intentions of the incumbent regime, Jakhar said both Delhi CM and Punjab CM have befooled people by their tact of lying unabashedly. Where are those 40,000 Crore additional revenue to be generated from transparent auctioning of Sandpits and sale of Alcohol which Kejriwal ji used to scream about during assembly elections, Jakhar asked.
What would be more hypocritical than the fact that a government which says there is no dearth of finances borrows Rs 100 Crore a day, Jakhar quipped.
Criticizing the Bhagwant Mann-led dispensation for hiding facts from the public, Jakhar said while this government makes hue and cry over pending RDF it fails to inform people that over 7000 Crores of central funds have already been provided (as centrally sponsored schemes and grant-in aid) to the state of which only 3000 crores have been utilized.
“The reason for non-utilization of Rs 4000 crores is that the state is not even contributing its share in central schemes where the bulk of spending is to be undertaken by the Centre, Jakhar said asking the CM to answer the people of Punjab by coming clean over this mindless misuse of public money.
