S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, will be participating in the meeting of the Sanghai Corporation Organisation ( SCO) council of foreign ministers, which will be held in Uzbekistan on Thursday.

Besides Jaishankar, Pakistan’s foreign minister will also be attending the SCO meeting of foreign ministers.

This will be the first time the foreign ministers of the two countries have met since Shehbaz Sharif’s coalition government of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was formed in Islamabad.

MEA stated in a meeting that India’s foreign minister had been invited to attend the meeting by Vladimir Norov, the acting Minister of foreign affairs of Republic of Uzbekistan.

The future sessions of the Council of Heads of State, which are scheduled to take place in September on September 15 and 16 this year in Samarkand, will be discussed and prepared for at this important conference of the foreign ministers.

As the press release suggested, the debate will examine continued collaboration in the SCO Organization’s expansion and share viewpoints on issues of regional and global significance.

The Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, will be participating in the meeting, and Jaishankar might attend the bilateral meeting with Wang YI to discuss the outcome of the 16th round of negotiations which were held recently between the military commanders of both countries to resolve the stand-off along the Line of Control in Eastern Ladakh.

The probable meeting of jaishankar and Wang might lead to the meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping of India and China, respectively. They are also expected to attend the meeting of SCO, which is to be held in September on September 15 and 16 in Samarkand.

On November 25, 2021, the 20th meeting of the SCO council of heads of government was conducted in Nur Sultan. The meeting was held through a video conference, chaired by Kazakhstan, and India was represented by S Jaishankar , as declared by the ministry of foreign affairs.

Afghanistan, Mongolia, Belarus, and Iran are the four observer states of the SCO along with six dialogue partners, namely Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Sri Lanka , Turkey, Nepal, and Armenia.

On September 17, 2021, Uzbekistan assumed the presidency from Tajikistan, and the Summit will be held in India the following year.
