In order to enhance connectivity to smaller towns from major expressways passing through the state (such as Delhi-Vadodara, Amritsar-Jamnagar, Delhi-Mumbai), the state highways will undergo improvements.
This project will be undertaken by the State Highway Authority, with an estimated expenditure of around 2,000 crores.
Deputy Chief Minister and PWD Minister Diya Kumari stated that currently, several state highways are in poor condition, leading to disruptions in traffic management. It is crucial to connect villages and small towns to major cities and expressways via state highways.
Taking this into consideration, a decision has been made to upgrade 25 state highways, with a combined length of approximately 1,000 kilometres. The repair and upgrade of these highways are expected to cost around 2,000 crores.
In addition to this, Chief Secretary Sandeep Verma mentioned that to materialize these projects, a World Bank mission will be visiting the state from February 28th to March 8th.
The construction of these roads will be facilitated through the Rajasthan State Highway Authority. The completion of this work is anticipated within the next 3 years.
