Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra initiated her election campaign in Tonk, Rajasthan, with strong praise for the Gehlot government and a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party. Priyanka addressed a massive gathering at the launching program of 1,000 rural Indira canteens.
The event was attended by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, state president Govind Singh Dotasra, and several other senior party leaders. Priyanka also interacted with women during the launch of the Indira canteens. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot welcomed Priyanka by presenting her with a Rajasthani ‘Topi’.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi began her speech in the local language, establishing a direct connection with the people and generating enthusiasm among them. She also made references to local deities, further strengthening her connection with the audience.
Priyanka encouraged the people to vote for the Congress, emphasizing that the Congress government considers the poor as Lord Ganesha and farmers as gods while implementing several welfare schemes for the people of Rajasthan and said that the Congress government, in contrast to the BJP, always favours the public. She criticized the BJP’s rule, accusing them of favouring their wealthy friends and increasing inflation.
In addition, the Congress leader highlighted the achievements of the Congress government in Rajasthan, including the reinstatement of old-age pensions and measures to combat inflation, and unemployment, and ensure healthcare.
Priyanka Gandhi appealed to the people of Rajasthan to vote for those who prioritize the welfare of the people. She shared the story of a young girl who received a mobile phone through a government scheme and said, “The girl thanked me for the mobile phone. It is important for everyone to understand that we are not giving you anything but your right. Through their schemes, the Rajasthan government is giving you your entitlement. Today, the BJP has become so arrogant that they don’t understand this.”
