JAIPUR: On Wednesday, petroleum dealers in Rajasthan, under the banner of the Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association, announced a strike, suspending the sale of petrol and diesel from 10 AM to 6 PM for two days. The association has called for the reduction of taxes on petrol and diesel from the state government. If the demands are not met in the next two days, an indefinite strike will begin on September 15. However, during the strike, fuel will be provided to ambulances and fire brigades. According to Rajendra Singh Bhati, President of the Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association, petrol and diesel are the most expensive in Rajasthan compared to other states in the country. Due to this, around 270 petrol pumps in Rajasthan have closed down. Vehicles fill up with cheaper fuel in neighbouring states before entering Rajasthan, causing losses to the state. The demand for tax parity has been conveyed to government representatives several times, but no action has been taken.
