Gehlot slams centre for long-standing Kota Airport demand

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was on his visit to Kota on Wednesday, where he addressed the media and sarcastically criticized the Central Government and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the long-standing demand for an airport in the industrial city of Kota in the state. He said, “The work that had not been done in 40 years, we have done it. For the new airport, the state government has given the land.”
The Chief Minister had also discussed this with the Lok Sabha Speaker in recent days, to which he said, “We have done our job. Now, they should fulfil their responsibility and build the airport in Kota.” Praising Chambal River Front and Oxygen in Kota city, he said, “Hadauti, which was lagging in terms of tourism, will now be connected to the tourism circuit. Domestic and foreign tourists will come here.”
When he was asked about the lack of an airport in Kota and how tourists would come here, he emphasized that the responsibility of building the airport should be fulfilled.
Chief Minister Gehlot said that a lot of development work has been done in Kota city. He said, “Roads have been constructed, underpasses and bridges have been built. Kota has become a traffic-free city. This is the first city where traffic runs without interruption.”
The Chief Minister said, “The Center has implemented the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The President inaugurated it today. In Rajasthan, the state government has already implemented the Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana, which is not available in any other state.” He demanded from the central government that in addition to health services in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the Right to Health Bill should also be implemented, and its scope should be expanded. On this occasion, he also gave information about other development schemes, including economic development in Rajasthan, making benefits available to the people.
Regarding the increase in VAT on petrol and diesel in Rajasthan and the strike of petrol pump operators, he said that the central government is responsible for this. “Excise duty has been imposed by the central government. When there was a BJP government in the centre, petrol prices were reduced when the prices of crude oil were low and did not increase much even when they were high.
