Former Congress Leader Jyoti Mirdha Embraces BJP’s Vision

Jyoti Mirdha, a prominent name in Rajasthan’s Congress politics and the granddaughter of Nathuram Mirdha, is now with the BJP. After joining the BJP in New Delhi, she arrived at the BJP headquarters in Jaipur on Friday. There, party workers welcomed her. During this time, in an exclusive interview with India News, she explained how her entry into the BJP happened. Along with that, she also launched a scathing attack on RLP Supremo and MP Hanuman Beniwal. She also mentioned that Hanuman Beniwal has done nothing for Nagaur except to get bikes released. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Q: Many Congress leaders have said that Jyoti Mirdha joining the BJP is significant. It has become a mystery how suddenly a member of the Mirdha family has joined the BJP.
A: See, these days many people are not satisfied with Congress. Statements by leaders like Harish Chaudhary and Divya Maderna are also being noticed by the public, concerning the Congress. I was also personally dissatisfied with the policies of the Congress organization. There is ongoing discussion about my joining, so let me clarify that I was quite disheartened seeing the condition of the Congress party. After that, I had personal meetings with JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, and Home Minister Amit Shah. I have seen the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and I also had discussions with both of these senior leaders about the party’s vision. After that, I decided to join the BJP. When I came to the BJP office for the first time, I was welcomed enthusiastically.
Q: You mentioned during your joining that you were feeling suffocated in Congress. What kind of suffocation were you feeling in the Congress?
A: Yes, it’s true that I was feeling suffocated in the Congress. Actually, the Congress party was promoting RLP (Rashtriya Loktantrik Party) in Nagaur, which was causing harm to the Congress party for personal gain. Everyone inside had information about the alliance between Congress and RLP. Seeing all this, I was very disheartened. The Congress party was erasing its own cadre. People were more focused on their personal gains at the expense of the party. This is the main reason for my decision to leave the Congress party.
Q: Hanuman Beniwal had said that the Mirdha family has destroyed the entire Nagaur. What do you have to say about this?
A: The Mirdha family has served not only Nagaur but the entire state extensively. Hanuman Beniwal keeps making allegations against the Mirdha family. Let me tell you that the Mirdha family has done a lot of work for the farmers. Even today, when I am not in the office, I work a lot for the public. When I was an MP, I brought the Nagaur Drinking Water Project. At that time, the government had imposed taxes on tractors and trollies, and we had to raise the issue in Parliament, ultimately forcing the government to withdraw the decision in the interest of farmers. The Mirdha family has consistently worked for the people. On the other hand, Hanuman Beniwal has done one thing exceptionally well, and that is getting people’s bikes released from the police.
Q: What do you want to say about the policies and schemes of the Congress government? How will you, being in the BJP, counter the policies and schemes of the Gehlot government?
A: Let me tell you one thing; during elections, parties announce free schemes. However, the people of Rajasthan are not influenced by the Congress’s policies. The people have made up their minds. In the upcoming times, the BJP will form a government in Rajasthan with a resounding majority.
Q: It is being said that Jyoti Mirdha could contest the Lok Sabha election from Nagaur against Hanuman Beniwal.
A: See, as far as my political career is concerned, I will make every effort to fulfil any responsibility the party assigns me. Whether the party wants me to contest Lok Sabha elections or even Assembly elections, I will try my best to serve the party. If required, without contesting elections, if the party assigns me any responsibility, I will fulfil that too. Regarding Beniwal, it is possible that he may not contest the Lok Sabha election this time because, in the last election, he won due to the BJP’s alliance. This time, his defeat is certain.
Q: Former Union Minister C.R. Chaudhary has also been a Member of Parliament from Nagaur. Last time, due to the alliance, his ticket was denied, and now that you have joined the party, he might be worried about his ticket being denied again.
A: I have very old family relations with C.R. Chaudhary. He is highly respected in my family. When I joined the party, Chaudhary Sahab congratulated me. I did not come to the party to obstruct anyone’s path. Under the leadership of C.R. Chaudhary, the BJP will work in Nagaur, and we will win all the seats in Nagaur.
