On the occasion of Lord Krishna’s Janmashtami, the entire Jhalawar district was immersed in devotion and spirituality. Lord Krishna’s birthday was celebrated with great fervour in all the towns of the district. However, the most special sight was witnessed in the religious city of Jhalrapatan, where a flood of Krishna devotees gathered at the ancient Dwarkadheesh Temple.
A total of 351 kilograms of flowers were used to decorate the temple dedicated to Lord Shri Krishna, and a 151-kilogram Abhishek (ritual bath) was performed. The entire temple was beautifully adorned for the occasion.
Women, dressed in Krishna and Radha’s attire, danced enthusiastically in the temple complex while waiting for Lord Krishna’s manifest festival. Even young children were seen playing as little Krishnas and Radhas with their families. During this time, devotees stood in long queues for a glimpse of Lord Dwarkadheesh in his childhood Gopal form. The temple’s bhajan mandalis (devotional singing groups) also sang hymns about Krishna’s childhood leelas (divine plays).
A similar scene was witnessed in the city of Jhalawar, where devotees celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with great devotion.
