The code of conduct for assembly elections has been imposed in Rajasthan, and the Mayor’s seat is vacant in the Heritage Corporation. A new appointment has not been made yet in place of the former mayor of Municipal Corporation Heritage, Munesh Gurjar. It will be difficult to make appointments after the ethics review because now permission will have to be taken from the Election Commission.

The post of Mayor has been vacant since the suspension of Munesh Gurjar. In the last month, Congress MLAs have not been able to agree among themselves on any single name. There has been a strong discussion on appointing an acting mayor since Monday morning, however, till now, the decision has not been taken. The name of three-time councillor Sunita Mawar from Adarsh Nagar assembly has been coming up, but now only the Election Commission will take the decision.

Mawar will also not go to the corporation headquarters until the official order comes. Questions are being raised regarding the consent to the appointment of Congress councillor Sunita Mawar from Ward 85. However, the Congress contenders feel that it would be better if a Muslim mayor is appointed.
According to the concerned MLAs and representatives, the charge of the Mayor of Municipal Corporation Heritage is no longer in their hands. They said that now whatever decision will be taken will be taken by the Election Commission only, and they cannot give orders after the code of conduct is imposed.
