Administration bows to the power of Naresh Meena

After the chaos during the farmers’ protest in Chhabda, former Student Union Secretary of Rajasthan University and Mahasachiv (General Secretary) of the Farmers’ Union, Naresh Meena, was arrested by the police late on Thursday night. Following his arrest, throughout the night, Meena’s supporters took to social media to warn the administration and the police. Several warnings of various kinds were issued to the administration, including threats of climbing towers and even suicide. After these warnings, Naresh Meena was brought to the police station. He had gathered a large number of supporters by morning at Sri Ram Stadium in Baran.
Upon seeing this, the administration was also taken aback. After consultations with senior officials, Naresh Meena was presented before the Baran subdivisional officer at around 11 AM. During this time, a large number of his supporters were also present. From there, he was granted bail. After obtaining bail, he met with the District Police Superintendent Rajkumar Choudhary.
During the counselling session, Naresh Meena met with the SP alone for about 10 minutes. Following this, he was accompanied by his companions as they returned from the collectorate premises. They loaded him with flower garlands and engaged in jubilant celebrations with drums and trumpets. During this procession at the collectorate premises, someone also made an offering at the statue of Gandhi, symbolizing their support. Along with this, they publicly apologized for the comments made during their agitation, in particular addressing the derogatory remarks made about a specific community.
Former President of the Baran Municipal Council, Kamal Rathore, also stood by Naresh Meena during this time.
He talked to the media and said, “Today, I promise that our future protests will follow the principles of Gandhism. I apologize for the comments made during our agitation. I also thank the media. I am sorry for the comments made on social media as well.”
