During the one-day visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Macron to the city on Thursday, traffic jams occurred at various places on the roads. Although the traffic police claimed to have controlled the traffic jams by diverting vehicles to alternative routes as soon as information about the road jam was received, vehicles were still seen crawling in the streets of the city until late evening.
While traffic police were vigilant on the road routes from the airport to Amer since morning, during the VIP movements, the police also sweated to control the traffic jams around the designated road routes. The convoy of the French President passed through JLN Marg, Badi Chaupar, Subhash Chowk, and Amer Road around three in the afternoon, and traffic snarls were seen on the roads around these routes. Jams occurred on roads such as Sischeme, MI Road, Jawahar Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Ghat Gate, Ramganj, Chhoti Chaupar, Chandpol, and Delhi Bypass.
During this time, seeing the jams on the main routes, the traffic police diverted vehicles from the main intersections to other routes, and the jams were seen being managed until late evening.
However, vehicles being stuck in the narrow lanes for hours also challenged the arrangements of the traffic police.
Similarly, during the arrival from the airport to Jantar Mantar, and the roadshow of Macron and Modi, long queues of vehicles were seen on the roads around the city’s walls, from JLN Marg at Ajmeri Gate to Tonk Road.
