The Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) is set to celebrate its 21st year, marking its journey from a humble beginning in 2003 to becoming a prominent event in the global gems and jewellery trade. The event is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 25th December, showcasing the vibrant and rich tradition of lapidary in the Pink City, Jaipur.
Genesis and Vision: The city of Jaipur, known as the Pink City, is recognized for its strong tradition in lapidary and is now establishing itself as a hub for exquisite jewellery. In 2003, the late Rashmikant Durlabhji launched JJS with a vision to boost the gems and jewellery trade and position Jaipur on the global map. The city’s growth in terms of infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality has contributed to its transformation into a burgeoning metro.
JJS Journey: From its inception with 67 stalls at Entertainment Paradise (EP) in 2003, JJS has evolved significantly. The number of booths has steadily increased, reaching over 1100 booths in its 21st year. The shift to the Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre (JECC) in 2014 addressed the growing demand for more booths and better facilities, leveraging JJS to a new level. The state-of-the-art venue covers an impressive area of over 2,50,000 square feet, offering a pillar-less hall with improved amenities.
Booths and Exhibitors: With over 1100 booths, the exhibition features gemstones, outstanding jewellery, costume and silver articles, allied machinery, and publications. Noteworthy is the fact that 67% of the booths are designer stalls, indicating a strong presence of creative and unique offerings. The show is expected to attract more than 8,000 trade visitors and nearly 50,000 domestic and international visitors.
MSME Inclusion: JJS has been approved for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) participation, providing an opportunity for manufacturers to benefit from this platform. MSME-registered exhibitors can apply to avail the associated benefits.
The December Show: Widely known as the December Show, JJS has become a significant event, drawing nearly 50,000 domestic and foreign visitors. It showcases the latest and finest in the Gems & Jewellery industry, not limited to Jaipur but featuring merchandise from exhibitors worldwide. The event is listed on the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan’s annual calendar, attracting tourists and visitors.
Complete Show: The exhibition covers diamonds, color stones, precious metals, carving, beads, jewellery institutes, publications, and more. With separate sections for jewellery and gemstones, customers can easily find products of their choice.
Top Retailers and Industry Associations: Around 1000 top retailers of India regularly attend the show, reinforcing the significance of JJS as a B2B platform. Over 50 members of the All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) and 30 members of the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) are expected to participate.
Pink Club and Networking Dinner: Introduced in 2022, the Pink Club is an exclusive B2B traders pavilion within JJS. The club features prefabricated booths, creating a focused space for B2B customers. A networking dinner on Saturday offers exhibitors an opportunity to interact with top retailers and buyers over dinner, cocktails, and a live band performance.
JJS-IJ Design Awards: The prestigious JJS-IJ Jewellers’ Design Awards, powered by GIA, will be a highlight. In its 13th year, the awards celebrate the best in design and creativity in the country’s jewellery industry. With over 1000 designs participating, the winners were selected by a distinguished jury.
Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF): In its sixth edition, JJDF 2023 focuses on the theme ‘Go Tech & its effect on the Jewellery Industry.’ The festival includes product displays, an art gallery showcasing gemstones, seminars, panel discussions, virtual displays, and participation from prominent designing institutes.

Cavalcade of Chief Guests: Over the years, JJS has welcomed eminent Chief Guests related to the gems and jewellery field. Notable personalities have graced the event, adding prestige to the glittering occasion.
Focus on New Trends: JJS has consistently focused on presenting the latest designs and settings in jewellery, showcasing a diverse range from traditional heavy gold ornaments to light-weight and innovative pieces. The event caters to various tastes, including yellow & white gold ornaments, traditional and oriental looks, fancy cut gemstones, and Kundan Meena Jewellery.
Why Jaipur? Jaipur’s selection as the venue for JJS is attributed to its rich tradition in gems and jewellery, making it a perfect fit for hosting an international event. The city’s historical significance, coupled with its status as a tourist and shopping destination, further enhances its appeal as a convention and business center.
In conclusion, the Jaipur Jewellery Show in its 21st year continues to be a cornerstone event in the gems and jewellery industry, providing a platform for industry players, exhibitors, and visitors to engage, explore, and celebrate the artistry and innovation in jewellery design and craftsmanship.
