On Sunday, several hospitals in Jaipur, including CK Birla Hospital and Monilek Hospital, received bomb threats via email around 7 a.m. The emails claimed that bombs were placed under hospital beds and in bathrooms and accused “terrorists ching and cultist” of planning a “massacre.” Police and bomb disposal teams were quickly dispatched to investigate.
This incident followed a similar threat on Saturday at Ambience Mall in Gurugram, Haryana, which also turned out to be a false alarm. On the same day, a prominent mall in Navi Mumbai’s Vashi area was evacuated due to a bomb threat, which was later determined to be a hoax.
In May, about 250 schools in Delhi and the NCR region received bomb threats, prompting mass evacuations and extensive searches. Despite the panic, authorities found nothing suspicious and later confirmed the threats were part of a widespread hoax.
The police have traced the threatening emails to a VPN that routed data through foreign servers, with the emails being sent via a Russian company’s mailing service. In response to the school threats in Delhi, the Union Home Ministry has emphasized the importance of developing detailed protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling such situations, as well as enhancing security measures like installing CCTV cameras and monitoring emails regularly.
