The cold wave tightens its grip on Rajasthan, with no respite from thick fog and plummeting temperatures. Several regions in the state woke up to a thick blanket of fog, causing poor visibility in Shekhawati districts such as Sriganganagar, Churu, and Hanumangarh, with visibility ranging from 70 to 150 meters.
The state capital, Jaipur, also experienced dense fog in the early hours, compelling drivers to use lights for visibility. Meanwhile, Mount Abu, the state’s highest point, continued to endure temperatures below freezing, recording -2 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day. The severe cold resulted in snow covering trees, plants, car roofs, and water pipes, significantly impacting daily life.
Night temperatures in 22 cities across the state dipped below 10 degrees, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue alerts for dense fog and a cold wave in the upcoming days. Minimum temperatures for various cities include Pilani at 4.9°C, Alwar and Sikar at 5.5°C, Sriganganagar at 5.7°C, Churu, Jaisalmer, and Sirohi at 6.1°C, and several others. Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center, highlighted the influence of easterly winds in the state, anticipating dense to very dense fog in eastern, northern, and western parts over the next two days.
