Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to confer Bharat Ratna to Pingali Venkaiah, who had designed the National Flag. He felicitated Sita Maha Lakshmi, daughter of Pingali Venkaiah and handed over the copy of G.O sanctioning financial assistance of Rs 75 lakhs. He also had seen a photo exhibition on glimpses of journey of Venkaiah. He posed with his family members for a group photo. The CM interacted with the family members and inquired about their well being. Sita Maha Lakshmi presented the autobiography of Pingali Venkaiah to the Chief Minister and shared the memories of freedom struggle with him. Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Pingali Venkaiah. Ministers Mekathoti Sucharitha, Cherukuvada Sriranganatha Raju, Avanti Srinivas, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, local leaders and officials were also present.
