Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagadish Shettar expressed confidence on Saturday about his party’s prospects in the upcoming by-elections for the Sandur, Shiggaon, and Channapatna assembly constituencies. Speaking to ANI, Shettar stated, “In Karnataka BJP is three by-election… Looking at the MUDA scams and Valmiki corporation scam, every day this government’s image is coming down and Siddaramaiah’s image is also coming down. So all three by-elections BJP is going to win.”
The by-elections for these three Karnataka assembly segments are scheduled for November 13, with results expected on November 23. Notably, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, will run for the Channapatna seat, competing against Congress candidate CP Yogeshwara.
After filing his nomination, Nikhil Kumaraswamy expressed optimism, saying, “Since I have been stating in the last couple of days whatever developments have taken place, it is NDA’s decision. They have made me the candidate. The party workers are really confident and even during HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy ji’s tenure they have done a lot for the district so I am sure hopefully the people will give me a chance.”
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy also shared his belief in his son’s success, telling ANI, “The voters of Channapatna and even common man, they are with JD(S)-NDA. There is no doubt that the affection which they have been showing for the last 40 years, will continue.” He further emphasized the strength of the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the by-elections, stating, “The party workers and leaders have taken it (this bypoll) as a challenge. We are going to win all the 3 seats (in the by-polls).”
