Fans were surprised to see their favorite action star, Jackie Chan, with grey hair. The Hong Kong legend clarified it was for a film role. Recently, he was spotted in Montreal, Canada, where he is filming the new Karate Kid movie, according to MTL Blog.

Jackie was seen out and about in Montreal, hanging out on the streets and at a nightclub, where he partied with fans. He sported the same grey hairstyle he was seen with a few weeks ago. Wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants, and glasses, Jackie danced with fans as the song “Jackie Chan” played in the background. This track, originally released in 2018 as part of Canadian rapper Preme’s album “Light of Day,” was later released as a single by Dutch DJ Tiesto and Canadian DJ Dzeko, gaining crossover club appeal.

Jackie Chan updated his fans about his health, explaining that his older appearance is due to a role in an upcoming movie.

On his Instagram, he shared, “Not so long ago, a lot of friends saw some recent photos of me on the internet, and they were all concerned about my health. I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry! It’s just a character appearance for my latest movie. The character requires me to have white hair, white beard and look old.”

Chan’s post also featured a series of throwback pictures from his illustrious career. He added, “Even before today, many friends have been reminding me: ‘Jackie, it’s going to be your 70th birthday!’ Every time I hear this number, my heart would stop for a second – I’m 70 years old already?”

Chan continued, “After recovering from the shock, the second thing that would come to my mind is a saying that my big brother, Sammo Hung once said: ‘being able to grow old is a fortunate thing.’ Especially for us stunt people, we don’t know how lucky we are to be able to grow old. A big thank you to everyone for all your birthday wishes. Hope everyone stays happy and healthy.”

Chan did not specify which role required him to appear older, but he is currently slated to appear in the next Karate Kid installment, scheduled for release in December. Both Chan and Ralph Macchio will reprise their roles from the beloved 1984 film.
