Jammu and Kashmir has achieved an impressive third-place ranking in the PM Vishwakarma training program, surpassing many larger states. Notably, two districts — Budgam from the Kashmir Division and Jammu from the Jammu Division — have made it to the top 10 districts in the country.
The Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development and Facilitation Office (DFO) in Jammu, under the Union Ministry of MSME, has been instrumental in implementing the PM Vishwakarma scheme with active support from the J&K government. This initiative is aimed at supporting MSMEs and skilled artisans across the Union Territory.
This initiative is designed to empower artisans from 18 traditional trades, helping preserve Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
In recognition of their contributions to the PM Vishwakarma scheme, Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, and Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, will be honored for their roles as Chairmen of their respective District Implementation Committees. Valluru Babu ISDS, Joint Director at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), will also receive an award for his leadership in successfully completing the training program in Jammu & Kashmir.
The awards will be presented by MP Jugal Kishore during the inaugural session of the Exhibition-cum-Trade Fair for PM Vishwakarma artisans at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, on October 24 at 6:00 PM. The exhibition is aimed at enhancing the market potential of J&K’s skilled Vishwakarma artisans, with stalls offered free of cost and accommodations reimbursed up to Rs 5,750 per artisan.
