Iran executed two anti-hijab protestors after they were convicted of killing a paramilitary force member during protests on Saturday.

The most recent killings quadruple the total number of those carried out in connection with the widespread protests to yet. In December, the execution of two individuals incited anger throughout the world.

Media reported, “Mohammad Mahdi Karami and Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, the main perpetrators of the crime that led to the martyrdom of Ruhollah Ajamian, were hanged this morning.”

The Supreme Court affirmed the two men’s death sentences on Tuesday after the court of first instance sentenced them to death in early December and accused them of murdering Ajamian on November 3.

The protests began after a young woman’s death who was identified as Mahsa Amini.
