The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the complete list of players eligible for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, which includes a remarkable 14-year-old prodigy and a 42-year-old veteran. Out of the 574 players listed, 204 slots are up for grabs across all IPL franchises.
Youngest Player in IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14)
Making waves at just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has earned a spot in the auction. The Bihar-born cricketer debuted in first-class cricket at the age of 13 during a Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match against Mumbai. He later showcased his talent at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, scoring a stunning century (104 off 62 balls) for India U19 against Australia U19 in a youth Test.
Suryavanshi’s feat made him the youngest to score a youth Test century, as well as the fastest by an Indian in this format. In the BCCI’s auction list, his name appears as the 491st under the 68th set.
Oldest Player in IPL 2025 Mega Auction: James Anderson (42)
Legendary English pacer James Anderson, 42, is the oldest entrant in the auction. Following his recent retirement from international cricket, Anderson is eyeing his IPL debut, expressing his desire to adapt to the shortest format of the game.
With a career tally of 704 Test wickets—the highest among fast bowlers and third overall behind Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800)—Anderson remains one of the all-time greats. It will be intriguing to see which team secures the services of this seasoned pacer.
