The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to commence on March 22, featuring a South Indian derby between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans and five-time champions Mumbai Indians are slated to face each other in an enticing showdown on March 24 at Ahmedabad.
The anticipation surrounding the fixture has surged due to star all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s return to his former franchise MI after two successful seasons with GT, where he led the team to victory as captain in their debut season back in 2022. Pandya will now lead MI, replacing Rohit Sharma, while Shubman Gill has assumed the captaincy of GT. Additionally, on the same day, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants will kick off their campaign in Jaipur.
