Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved a significant milestone by equalling the record of most wins at a single venue alongside five-times champions Mumbai Indians (MI), with 52 victories at a single venue.
At the recent encounter of KKR against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, KKR showcased an exceptional spell by their spinners, disturbing Mumbai Indian’s run chase of 158 runs, and restricting them to 139/8 in 16 overs.
This win for KKR made them the first team to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2024.
Initially, the match was impacted by rains, shrinking the match into 16-over contest, intensifying match for both the sides.
With this victory, KKR now possess 52 wins at Eden Gardens, mirroring the record of Hardik Pandya led Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, marking a historic milestone in IPL’s history.
Other teams with most iconic wins include Chennai Super Kings (49 at MA Chidambaram Stadium), Royal Challengers Bangalore (42 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium), and Rajasthan Royals (38 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium) at their respective home grounds.
Currently, KKR tops the points table by securing 18 points, with nine wins and three loses. On the contrary, MI lies at the bottom with 8 points, with three wins and nine loses, diverging the two teams very evidently at IPL 2024.
