The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said, the probe is underway in three Russian nationals’ death cases in India and asked not to link deaths of three Russian nationals in India.

“Necessary investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha. We are now aware of the death of a Russian sailor in international waters off the coast of Odisha. His body has been brought to Paradip Port for formalities. I wouldn’t like to link all three cases together,” said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi during said.

Meanwhile, Bagchi said he wouldn’t like to link all of them together nor look at it all together. “India is a large country where a lot of foreigners visit,” Bagchi stated.

Amid an ongoing investigation, Bagchi said there is “no reason to link” all three cases as the circumstance of the deaths is investigated by the Odisha government.

After the third Russian national MEA spokesperson’s remarks came. The third Russian national used to work as a chief engineer in a cargo ship and on the coast of Odisha he was found dead.

Moreover, within two weeks the third Russian was found dead in the state. Earlier, two Russian nationals were found dead at the Sai International hotel in Rayagada Odisha Police Crime Branch has arrived to investigate the death.

The team is led by Saroj Kant Mahanto in which there are four officers two forensic experts and photographers to assist the CID-Crime Branch probe.

Earlier on 24 December Russian national Pavel Antov was found dead after allegedly falling from a hotel’s third floor. Vladimir Bidenov died “due to heart attack,” said Odisha Police.

However, their co-travelers Pansasenko Natalia and Turov Mikhail CID-Crime Branch are cross-checking the information.
