Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has emphasized the need for increased investment in the club to enhance their ability to compete for trophies. Despite finishing third in the Premier League this season, Ten Hag believes that further investments are necessary to elevate the team’s competitiveness and pursuit of silverware.

In their final game of the league season, Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory over Fulham, allowing them to clinch third place in the Premier League standings. With a total of 75 points, United concluded the season on a positive note, showcasing their resilience by coming from behind to claim the crucial win.

Manchester United, who lifted the League Cup earlier in February, now have an opportunity to add more silverware to their collection as they prepare to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday. The club will be aiming to end the season on a high note by securing another major trophy in what promises to be an exciting showdown between the two Manchester rivals.

“We are moving in the right direction, but we have not yet reached the level we aspire to. There is still a considerable distance to cover, and both the team and individual players have the potential to achieve more,” Ten Hag emphasized during his press conference on Sunday.

“We have demonstrated progress throughout the season, and credit goes to the players and coaching staff for their hard work. However, for us to consistently compete for a top-four finish and challenge for trophies in this fiercely competitive league, it is imperative that the club makes investments. Without proper investments, our chances diminish as other clubs continue to strengthen.”

Ten Hag highlighted the importance of investment to sustain the club’s ambitions, stating, “The club is aware that if we want to secure a top-four spot and contend for trophies, we must invest. Otherwise, we will be at a disadvantage because other clubs will do so.”

Manchester United’s last league title triumph occurred in the 2012-2013 season under the leadership of Alex Ferguson. As the club strives to recapture that success, Ten Hag recognizes the need for continued investment in order to remain competitive at the highest level.
