The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is preparing to unveil the highly anticipated sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train. Recent images showcase the train’s interiors, luxurious design, and advanced features.
This new sleeper variant adds to the Vande Bharat lineup, which already includes chair car models and metro trains. Built for overnight journeys, the Vande Bharat sleeper is expected to operate on routes ranging from 800 km to 1,200 km.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train offers numerous features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and safety. Fully air-conditioned, the train will consist of 16 coaches, accommodating up to 820 passengers. With a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour, it promises to significantly reduce travel times.
U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF, emphasized the modern amenities that differentiate the Vande Bharat sleeper from traditional trains.
– Sensor-Activated Doors: Passengers can open doors with a simple touch.
– Touch-Free Bio-Vacuum Toilets: These facilities prioritize hygiene and convenience.
– Interconnecting Doors: Designed for easy access between coaches.
– Talk-Back Units: These improve communication between passengers and train attendants.
– Flight-Style Attendant Buttons: ound in first-class compartments, these buttons allow easy access to upper berths.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is equipped with an emergency brake system and other advanced safety features. It also includes the “Kavach” anti-collision system and anti-climbing technology to prevent coaches from stacking on top of each other in the event of an accident.
Before its official launch, the train will undergo extensive testing. Over the next two months, it will be evaluated at speeds from 90 km/h to 180 km/h, focusing on safety and security features. Testing will occur at the Lucknow RDSO and Western Railway facilities, with a completion target of November 15.
