A significant drug bust in Delhi was made possible by a tip-off from a central intelligence agency, which led the Special Cell of the Delhi Police to a godown owned by Tushar Goyal in Mahipalpur. This operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics, including cocaine and hydroponic marijuana, marking a first for the city.
In early August, the Delhi Police received information from a central government intelligence agency regarding an international drug cartel smuggling cocaine into the capital. Over the next three months, investigators carefully analyzed this information, identified cartel members, and monitored their activities.
As part of the operation, the Special Cell apprehended four individuals linked to the drug trade. The arrested suspects were identified as Tushar Goyal (40) from Vasant Enclave in Delhi, Himanshu Kumar (27) from Hind Vihar, Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and Bharat Kumar Jain (48) from Kurla, Mumbai.
According to the police, Tushar Goyal served as the primary receiver and distributor of narcotics for the cartel in India, with close associates being Himanshu Kumar and Aurangzeb Siddiqui. Bharat Kumar Jain traveled from Mumbai to Delhi to pick up a shipment of 15 kg of cocaine from Goyal. Police suspect that the main leader of the drug cartel is operating from a country in the Middle East.
In terms of market value, the cocaine recovered is estimated to be around ₹10 crore per kg, while hydroponic marijuana is valued at ₹50 lakh per kg. The total haul included 562 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, produced in Thailand, amounting to an estimated worth of ₹5,600 crore.
The Delhi Police provided background information about the accused. Tushar Goyal graduated from IP University in Delhi in 2003 and is the son of a well-known publisher, operating Tushar Publication and Tulip Publication in the city. After taking over his father’s business, Tushar adopted a lavish lifestyle following his marriage in 2008, which eventually led him to connect with a drug cartel mastermind based in Dubai.
Himanshu Kumar, another accused, completed his education up to class 12 in Delhi. After finishing school, he worked as a bouncer and security personnel before meeting Tushar Goyal and becoming involved in the drug cartel.
Aurangzeb Siddiqui studied until class 11 in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and moved to Delhi seeking job opportunities. He began working as a driver for Tushar Goyal’s household before joining the drug cartel.
Bharat Kumar Jain studied in Mumbai and later became involved with a local drug dealer, which led him to connect with the drug cartel.
