The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has initiated a project to promote hygienic sanitation practices in the city by installing prefabricated and portable toilet blocks in vendor areas at the City Beautiful.
Mayor Anup Gupta, alongside area councilor Ram Chander Yadav and other MCC officials, laid the foundation stone for this endeavor at the EWS Rehabilitation Colony in Dhanas on Saturday. The Mayor shared details of the project, stating that it aims to be completed within three months at a cost of Rs 18.78 lakh.
The initiative will provide essential facilities for over 650 vendors and citizens visiting the area. The Mayor highlighted the long-standing demand from vendors for such amenities and emphasized that it would bring significant relief to both vendors and the general public frequenting the vending zone for their daily needs.
