The Indian team for the T20 World Cup will be selected on 15 September. The T20 World Cup is to be held in Australia. The news is coming out quoting sources that the national selectors will meet in Mumbai to select the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.
Significantly, the final of the Asia Cup 2022 will be played on September 11. The selectors will look at India’s performance in the Asia Cup led by Rohit Sharma and select India’s squad for the World Cup four days after the Asia Cup 2022 final. The final of the Asia Cup is on September 11.
Meanwhile, the Indian team will be selected after the players and support staff return home from the UAE. The ICC has given all the countries to select the teams for the T20 World Cup till 16 September.
Moreover, the qualifying phase of the tournament, which will also be hosted by Australia, begins on 16 October. The Super-12 round of the T20 World Cup 2022 will start on October 22. In which the teams of Australia and New Zealand will face each other.
However, each team is allowed to select a 15-man squad. Each team participating in the tournament can travel with a crew of up to 30 members. A total of 23 members will be part of the official team and 15 players and 8 teams will be part of the management.
In addition, seven additional members will be allowed to travel with the team. These seven additional members can be a mix of players including net bowlers and support staff. Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic, ICC has made it mandatory for each team to travel with a doctor.
