For obvious reasons, China skipped the meeting. Along with Turkey and Saudi Arabia. But many member countries of the OIC attended the meeting and sided with India. Last year’s G20 president was Indonesia. It attended along with Nigeria and Morocco, giving a clear divergent view on Ladakh. About 100 delegates from 30 countries attended the meeting, and they were spellbound by the pristine beauty of the Himalayas. Diplomats feel that such natural beauty can’t be avoided on the grounds of ideological divide. The delegates were taken to the world-famous Hemis and Thiksey monasteries. The idea was to showcase India’s diverse ethnic culture. Ultimately, it became such a successful event that delegates proposed holding the main summit in Ladakh.
