India’s Covid tally crosses 31-lakh mark, Haryana CM tests positive

With 61,408 new Covid-19 cases, the country’s tally crossed 31 lakh on Monday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) said. The country’s total coronavirus count has reached 31,06,349 including 23,38,036 cured/discharged/migrated cases. With 836 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll climbed to 57,542.

Maharashtra accounts for the maximum number of cases with 11,015 new Covid-19 cases and 212 deaths reported in the last twentyfour hours. The total number of positive cases now stands at 6,93,398 including 5,02,490 recoveries and 1,68,126 active cases. Meanwhile 743 new cases and 20 deaths were reported in Mumbai. The total number of positive cases jumps to 1,37,091, of which, 18,263 are still active, while 7,439 have succumbed to the virus.

Delhi reported 1,061 new Covid-19 cases, 1,200 recoveries and 13 deaths in the last twenty-four hours. Total cases are now at 1,62,527 including 1,46,588 recovered cases, 11,626 active cases & 4,313 deaths. While officials said that under the provisions of Unlock-4, the government is likely to allow metro services in Delhi to restart its operation.

Meanwhile, in Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal, state Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and two other MLAs tested positive for Covid-19. The state reported 1,074 new Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 55460.

Andhra Pradesh logged 8,601 new cases and 86 deaths due to the novel coronavirus infection in the last twenty-four hours. The state’s Covid-19 tally has reached 3,61,712 and the death toll stands at 3,368

In Uttar Pradesh, 61 more patients died due to Covid-19, the death count due to the viral disease rose to 2,987, while 4,677 fresh cases took the tally to 1,92,382. So far 2,987 Covid-19 patients have succumbed to the viral disease. So far, 1,40,107 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease and the recovery rate stands at 72.82 per cent.

Madhya Pradesh reported 1,292 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths in the last twenty-four hours. The total number of cases now at 54,421 including 11,944 active cases, 41,231 recoveries and 1,246 deaths.

Rajasthan recorded six more fatalities due to the novel coronavirus, taking the Covid-19 death toll in the state to 961. The state also reported 585 new cases of the coronavirus. The total number of people infected by Covid-19 now stands at 71,194 in Rajasthan and out of these 14,790 people are under treatment. The official said that 54,805 people have been discharged after treatment till now.

The entire country reported 61,408 new cases of coronavirus disease and 836 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 3,106,349, including 2,338,036 recovered patients.
