India recorded a single-day spike of 78,512 new coronavirus cases, taking its total caseload to 36,21,245. Out of these, there are 78,1975 active cases, 27,74,801 recoveries and 64,469 deaths. As many as 971 deaths were reported, taking the toll to 64,469.
After two consecutive days of reporting 16,000-plus fresh Covid-19 cases each day, Maharashtra showed a dip in infection at 11,852. The state has currently 1.94 lakh active cases. On the other hand, 11,158 patients were discharged, taking the total number of patients cured of the infection to 5.73 lakh. The recovery rate stood at 72.37%.
Delhi recorded 1,358 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to over 1.74 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 4,444. Eighteen fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
Tamil Nadu reported 5,956 fresh Covid-19 cases taking the tally to 4,28,041 as 91 more fatalities pushed the death count to 7,322. Also, once again, 6,000 plus recoveries have outnumbered the fresh cases. Active cases are recorded at 52,578 with 6,008 patients getting discharged and cumulatively 3,68,141 people have recovered.
The Covid-19 tally in Kerala crossed the 75,000 mark with the addition of 1,530 fresh cases. While the number of positive cases rose to 75,384, seven Covid-19 deaths took the toll to 294. At least 1,693 people were discharged, taking the total of cured to 51,542.
Karnataka recorded 6,495 new Covid-19 cases, 7,238 discharges and 113 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 3,42,423 including 2,49,467 discharges and 5,702.
In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to coronavirus climbed to 3,486 with 63 fresh Covid-19 fatalities reported from the state. As many as 5,061 fresh cases have been reported from the state. The total count of Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 2,30,414, while the number of active cases stands at 54,788.
Gujarat’s Covid-19 tally rose to 96,435 with 1,280 new cases. With 14 fresh fatalities, the death count rose to 3,022. At the same time, 1,025 patients were discharged, raising the number of recovered cases in the state to 77,782. There are now 15,631 active cases in Gujarat.
Punjab records 1,541 new coronavirus cases, 1,280 recoveries and 50 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 15,512, recoveries to 37,027 and death toll to 1,453.
Haryana recorded a record spike of 1450 new coronavirus cases, bringing the number of infected to around 65 thousand. Meanwhile 1,052 patients recovered from the disease, and seven lives lost the battle with the deadly virus. The number of corona infections in the state has gone up to 64,732, out of which 52,672 patients have been cured.
