On the 39th anniversary of the Air India flight ‘Kanishka’ bombing, the Indian High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma paid tribute to victims in the country’s capital Ottawa on Sunday.
Furthermore, he participated in the memorial service of victims at Air India Flight 182 Monument at Ottawa’s Commissioner’s Park in Dow Lake.
Via X, the Indian commissioner in Canada said, ‘High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma paid homage to the victims of Air India flight 182 Kanishka in Ottawa today on the 39th anniversary of the cowardly terrorist bombing in which 329 innocent victims including 86 children, lost their lives.’

Later, addressing the gathering, the commissioner said, that no government in this world, should not ignore the threat of Terrorism. All terror activities should face huge consequences and they should be nipped in the bud, before it starts to inflict harm on larger humanity.
In addition, the commissioner also emphasized, that India is always at the forefront to combat terrorism and will collaborate with all nations to address this global challenge.
Besides Sanjay Kumar Verma, India’s consulate general Siddhartha Nath, also participated at memorial service in Toronto’s Queen’s park and later interacted with victim’s family. He also placed a wreath at Humber Park in Etobicoke to honor the 329 victims of Air India flight 182 bombing.
Taking to X, Consulate General of India said, ‘CG attended the memorial service at Queen’s Park Toronto for AI 182 flight bombing victims and met with the bereaved families. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of unified global efforts to combat terrorism and standing firm against its glorification.’
Earlier, External Affairs minister S Jaishankar condemned Air India Flight Bombing, calling it one of the most heinous acts of terrorism in human history.

Meanwhile recalling the incident in Canadian parliament, Chandra Arya emphasized, that the celebration of former PM Indira Gandhi’s assassination by Khalistani forces, demonstrates that ‘dark forces’ are active again.
He also emphasized, that the ideology responsible for this terror attack is still alive and kicking among few people in Canada.
‘Unfortunately, many Canadians are not aware that even today, the ideology responsible for this terrorist attack is still alive among few people in Canada. The recent celebration of the assassination of Hindu Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by Khalistan supporters, glorifying violence and hate, shows that the dark forces have been energized again and point to dreadful times ahead. Hindu Canadians are rightfully concerned. I stand in solidarity with the families of the victims of Air India bombing.’ said Chandra Arya in Canadian parliament.
