In a collaborative effort, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police executed a joint operation, codenamed Op Lambert, leading to the recovery of warlike stores in the vicinity of Garan, Naushera. This successful operation marks a significant stride in countering potential security threats.
The operation was initiated in response to actionable intelligence received from local sources, indicating the presence of a drone in the area on December 5. The search operation conducted by the joint forces resulted in the discovery of a pistol and eight rounds at the specified location. The search for additional items in the area is currently underway.
The accomplishment of Operation Lamberi exposes the malicious intentions of external elements, with Pakistan suspected to be involved. The joint forces’ timely and effective response has averted a potentially major terrorist incident, showcasing the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army and JK Police to national security.
This incident marks the third drone-related occurrence on the Line of Control (LOC) in recent times. In a previous incident in the Panwala sector, a box suspected to have been dropped by a drone was recovered on the Pakistan side on November 23, containing one pistol, two magazines, 38 rounds, and nine grenades.
Additionally, on November 6, 2023, vigilant Indian Army troops engaged in gunfire with a suspected Pakistani drone in the Battal area of the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control.
Jammu and Kashmir authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation to apprehend the recipient involved in this illicit activity. The security forces remain on high alert to address emerging threats and maintain the safety and security of the region.
