Cristiano Ronaldo recently faced criticism from Indian doctor Cyriac Abby Phillips, known as “TheLiverDoc” on X, for endorsing Herbalife, a company often accused of controversial multi-level marketing practices. On November 7, Ronaldo posted images of himself preparing a Herbalife breakfast mix, captioned, “A good way to start the day? A healthy breakfast. Herbalife Formula 1 delivers a balanced mix of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.”
Dr. Phillips did not hold back in his response, criticizing Ronaldo’s endorsement. He labeled Herbalife a “multilevel marketing pyramid scheme company” that offers “low-quality mixed protein made from pea and soy” alongside “dangerous botanicals,” yet charges premium prices. The doctor then pointed to Herbalife’s association with “the highest documented liver injury and liver failure cases in the world among all protein supplements.”
Phillips also questioned Ronaldo’s knowledge and motives, suggesting the endorsement was purely financially motivated: “Ronaldo may or may not know this, but his breakfast definitely DOES NOT involve Herbalife products… Because even the people you place high on a high pedestal are sometimes deprived of ethics and morality when it comes to healthcare and health literacy when money talks.” Phillips further included links in his post, pointing to fines Herbalife has paid in fraud and corruption cases, as well as research detailing the products’ alleged toxicity.
A good way to start the day? A healthy breakfast.
No doubt. But Herbalife has no role in it.

Separately, rumors suggest Ronaldo may be considering a move from Al-Nassr to Saudi rivals Al-Hilal in the winter transfer window. After joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has won only the Arab Club Champions Cup, while Al-Hilal has clinched multiple titles, including the Saudi Pro League, King Cup, and Saudi Super Cup.
Reports indicate that Al-Hilal is considering releasing Neymar due to his recurring injuries, potentially clearing the path for Ronaldo to join the club. Whether the 39-year-old star will make the switch remains to be seen.
