The Northern Commander of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and the newly appointed Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, RR Swain, engaged in a comprehensive review of security plans against terrorism and administrative preparations for the upcoming winter months. This marked the first interaction between the two leaders since Swain assumed office on October 31.
The discussion, aimed at fostering enhanced coordination between the forces, focused on a commitment to zero tolerance for terror activities. The security and administrative arrangements crucial for the impending winter season were also on the agenda.
In a statement from the Army’s Udhampur-based Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and RR Swain explored strategies to strengthen cooperation between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The accompanying post on the Army’s official social media account highlighted the shared commitment of both entities to reinforce the safety and security of the Union Territory.
As part of heightened vigilance, security agencies, including the police, remain on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the Line of Control. The objective is to thwart any potential infiltration attempts by terrorists before heavy snowfall blocks possible routes. Additionally, anti-terror operations have been intensified in villages near forests and borders, forming a crucial component of the ongoing area domination exercise.
