BRS leader K Kavitha tries to put pressure on govt to bring Women’s Reservation Bill

BRS leader K Kavitha has been raising the issue of the Women’s Reservation Bill to increase the representation of women in the Parliament.

She said in Parliament on Wednesday that “the women’s Reservation Bill should be immediately brought. It will also help increase women’s participation in Parliament. For this, we are organizing a round table meeting. Those who support this bill are called today. We are trying to put pressure on the government to pass this bill. We have requested Congress to participate”.

Further, she slammed the central government, saying, “Whoever speaks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi is called and questioned. It is wrong, everyone has the right to ask questions. They (BJP) first raided business houses and tried to control them, then they tried to control political parties”. “We will fight,We have not done anything wrong. Whenever we will be called by them (ED) we will go and answer,”.

To introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill in the ongoing budget session of Parliament, the BRS MLC also went on a hunger strike on Friday in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Earlier today, the Supreme Court agreed to list K Kavitha’s plea against the ED summons to her in the Delhi excise police case, on 24 March.

However, the apex court refused to grant her any interim relief in the matter. Kavitha was questioned by the ED on 11 March in connection with the case. She will be again  summoned by the ED on 16 March in the matter.
