A woman in China has discovered she was secretly filmed during her breast augmentation surgery, leading her to take legal action against the hospital. Gao, who underwent the procedure in January at a cosmetic surgery hospital in Henan, was shocked to find herself featured in a viral video on TikTok five months later. The video, which showed her heavily bandaged and seemingly under anesthesia, was widely circulated.
The hospital has faced criticism for its handling of the situation. Gao has demanded that the hospital reveal the identity of the person who filmed her, remove the video from social media, and provide compensation along with a public apology.
The hospital, however, claims that the footage was recorded by an unknown third party and has argued that tracing the individual is impossible due to the deletion of security footage after three months. They have promised to cooperate with social media platforms to remove the video if it resurfaces.
Despite the hospital’s statements, Gao believes it is improbable that an outsider could have accessed the operating room. The facility later adjusted its position, stating that the individual responsible for the recording had left the hospital and destroyed all contact information. Gao is now pursuing legal action against the hospital for the invasion of her privacy.
