Authorities at Mumbai Airport arrested a woman who arrived from Doha on July 14 for attempting to smuggle over ₹62 crore worth of cocaine hidden inside chocolate and biscuit boxes. The arrest followed a specific intelligence alert received by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

Cocaine Packed Inside Oreo and Chocolate Boxes

Based on the tip-off, DRI Mumbai officers intercepted the Indian woman passenger as she tried to exit the airport. A search of her luggage led to the discovery of six Oreo biscuit boxes and three chocolate boxes, all suspiciously packed.

Upon opening them, officials discovered 300 capsules filled with a white, powdery substance. These were tested on the spot, and the results confirmed the presence of cocaine.

“All capsules were individually tested using the field test kit, which showed positive result for cocaine,” the DRI said in its statement.

The total weight of the seized cocaine was 6,261 grams, which carries a street value of ₹62.6 crore in the international black market. The woman has been taken into custody, and officials confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway.

Series of Recent Drug Smuggling Busts

This incident follows similar operations by DRI Mumbai in recent weeks. On June 22, officers arrested a male passenger from Sierra Leone at the same airport after recovering 1,139 grams of cocaine worth over ₹11 crore. The accused had reportedly ingested drug capsules and had to be hospitalized for safe recovery of the contraband.

Earlier, on June 20, a Nigerian woman transporting drugs from Delhi to Mumbai by bus was nabbed after a 50-kilometre night surveillance operation. DRI officials intercepted her and checked her baggage, confirming the presence of narcotics.
