Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has finally responded to the controversies surrounding his film Sardaarji 3, the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, and his appearance at the India-Pakistan cricket match. During his concert in Malaysia, the Punjabi superstar addressed the issue.

He openly shared his pain and clarified the timeline of events. Videos from the concert are now going viral, showing Diljit saluting the Indian Tricolour before speaking to his fans.

He told the crowd in Punjabi, “Woh mere desh da jhanda hai (That’s my country’s flag). Always respect.” The audience applauded as he bowed to the national flag.

Setting the Record Straight

Diljit then explained the timeline that caused so much confusion. He said, “When my film Sardaarji 3 was shot in February, cricket matches were being played at that time.”

He spoke with grief about the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, which killed 26 people, most of them tourists.

“After that, the tragic Pahalgam attack happened. Even then, and now, we have always prayed that terrorists should be punished strictly. The difference is, my film was shot before the attack, and the match took place after the attack.”

His clarification made it clear that neither his film nor his match appearance had any connection to the tragic attack.

Media Criticism and “Anti-National” Label

Diljit also expressed his pain at being targeted in the national media. Some outlets had tried to brand him as “anti-national.” Rejecting the tag, he said firmly, “Punjabis and the Sikh community could never go against the nation.”

This statement drew loud cheers from his fans in Malaysia, many of whom waved the Tricolour in support.

Silence Over Negativity

The Punjabi star also reflected on why he chose not to react earlier. “I have many answers, but I kept everything inside me. Whoever says anything, you shouldn’t take that poison inside you. I have learnt that from life. So I didn’t speak. There is a lot more I could say, but I don’t want to.”

His words revealed the toll the controversy had taken on him, but also showed his decision to choose dignity over negativity.

The Row Over Casting a Pakistani Actor

The controversy first erupted earlier this year when Diljit announced that Pakistani actor Hania Aamir would star in Sardaarji 3. This decision drew sharp criticism due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan.

The film also featured Neeru Bajwa, Gulshan Grover, and Sapna Pabbi, and was directed by Amar Hundal. It was released overseas on 27 June and performed well among Punjabi audiences abroad.

Diljit, however, kept quiet about the issue until now. By addressing it directly, he clarified that the film’s shoot had nothing to do with later political and security tensions.

Diljit’s Gesture Wins Hearts

By saluting the national flag on stage, Diljit showed his patriotism and respect for India. His speech not only cleared months of speculation but also strengthened his image as an artist who respects his roots and country.

Fans praised his dignified way of handling the controversy, as he avoided blame games and chose calmness.
