‘Will this country run on Sharia’ Amit Shah rips up Congress manifesto

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed that following the release of the Congress manifesto, there has been a noticeable shift in people’s favor towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shah attributed this to the perception that the Congress manifesto perpetuates its historical practice of appeasement. He criticized the Congress manifesto for advocating the advancement of personal laws, which, according to him, has the potential to fragment the nation.

Shah urged voters to support a party committed to national security, prosperity, and the welfare of the underprivileged. He questioned the Congress party’s stance on personal laws, particularly whether the country would now adhere to Sharia principles. Emphasizing the secular nature of the Constitution, Shah stated that the country’s laws cannot be dictated by religion.

Furthermore, Shah underscored the BJP’s commitment to introducing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as outlined in its manifesto. He highlighted the BJP’s previous actions, such as the abolition of Triple Talaq, as evidence of its dedication to this cause. Shah expressed confidence in Narendra Modi’s leadership and anticipated his re-election as Prime Minister.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also criticized the Congress, alleging that its manifesto hinted at implementing Sharia law and redistributing property. Adityanath claimed that such measures posed a threat to the Constitution and insinuated a Taliban-like governance style. He accused Congress and its allies of endangering the Constitution crafted by B.R. Ambedkar.
