Speaking from Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation with a “heavy heart” a day after a devastating explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort. The blast, which killed at least eight people and injured dozens, has triggered a high-alert security response across the national capital and a firm political promise for retribution.
What Did PM Modi Say?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence on the tragedy during his state visit to Bhutan. He expressed his deep sadness and solidarity with the grieving families. More importantly, he issued a stern warning to the perpetrators. “Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy,” PM Modi stated. He firmly added, “The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice.” This sets a clear tone for the government’s zero-tolerance approach to the security threat.
Echoing the Prime Minister’s resolve, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a similar warning at the Delhi Defence Dialogue. He provided a firm assurance to the nation, vowing that those responsible would face the harshest punishment and would not be spared under any circumstances. This unified message from the country’s top leadership underscores the seriousness with which the government is treating the incident.

What is the Current Security Response?
Right after the Red Fort blast, Delhi Police began a full investigation. They filed a formal FIR under the strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act. The whole national capital region is on high alert, with security stepped up across vital sites. These include the international airport, main railway stations, and key bus terminals to stop any more incidents.
The investigation itself is multi-pronged. The area near the Red Fort where the blast occurred was quickly sealed, and all visitors were evacuated. Teams from the Special Cell, Crime Branch, and FSL reached the spot to collect evidence. Home Minister Amit Shah said all angles are being examined and results will be shared soon.
Who is Under Investigation?
The early stages of the investigation have led to significant developments. On the blast evening, authorities held two men—Salman and Devender for questioning. They were the car’s past owners.
