Why India’s Most Wanted Dawood Ibrahim Couldn’t Return to India?

Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted criminal, has been admitted to a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, in critical condition. According to reports, he may have been poisoned by one of his associates, which resulted in his emergency hospitalization two days ago. Pakistani authorities have increased security around the medical facility.

Dawood Ibrahim, infamous for his involvement in organized crime, fraud, theft, and various illegal activities, rose to prominence, leading the notorious D-Company. The criminal enterprise, operating in multiple countries, expanded into gold smuggling, real estate, extortion, and drug trafficking. Dawood’s connection to terrorism became evident in 1993 when his gang orchestrated bomb attacks in Mumbai, resulting in numerous casualties.

Outraged by communal tensions and pressured by Pakistan’s ISI, D-Company financed bomb attacks in 1993, killing 257 people in Mumbai. Dawood fled to Karachi, where he is said to reside to this day, unable to return to India or the UAE. His influence reportedly extended to supporting terrorists in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Dawood Ibrahim, designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the United States in 2003, remains on the UN Security Council’s list of individuals associated with al-Qaeda. Known as one of the richest and deadliest gangsters, his hospitalization has raised tensions, with security tightening around the medical facility. Official confirmation is awaited from both India and Pakistan, intensifying speculation and scrutiny on Dawood Ibrahim’s health.
